DJ Format (DJ 포맷, 본명: Matt Ford)는 영국 사우스햄튼 출신의 힙합 DJ 겸 프로듀서로, 90년대 힙합의 진수를 느낄 수 있는 음악을 놀라운 감각으로 선보이고 있다. 2003년 데뷔앨범 [Music For The Mature B-Boy]의 훵크감 충만하고 중독성있는 비트와 절묘한 가사로 언론으로부터 큰 호응을 얻으며 영국 얼터너티브/어반 씬에서 데뷔앨범만으로도 주목받는 아티스트 중 한명으로 떠오르며 인지도를 높이기 시작한다. 그의 성공에는 여러 이유가 있지만 독특한 뮤직비디오도 한 몫을 했는데 특히, Jurassic 5의 Chali 2na와 Akil과 콜라보레이트한 ‘We Know Something You Don’t Know’에서 귀여운 상어, 거북이, 호랑이 코스튬에 정통 올드스쿨 힙합 그루브를 타며 신나게 주거니 받거니 하는 랩을 담은 뮤직비디오는 음악적으로나 화면구성 모두 큰 주목을 받기에 충분했다. 그는 종종 캐나다 출신 랩퍼 Adbominal과 Jurassic 5와 함께 작업하게도 했는데 특히 2003년 Jurassic 5의 유럽투어 서포팅을 통해 라이브 힙합의 가장 핫한 뮤지션 중 하나로 떠오르기도 했다. 그는 훵크, 락, 라틴 등을 힙합에 놀랍게 융화시키는 작업을 통해 그가 지닌 음악적 스펙트럼의 방대함을 보여주며 매번 듣는 이에게 신선함을 선사하고 있다. .... ....
