1993년 노르웨이의 수도 오슬로(Oslo)에서, 버클리 음대(Berklee College of Music)를 졸업한 킴과 조니가 베테랑 어 시모네의 소개로 만나 'Sweet 'n' Sour'라는 이름으로 의기투합한 것이 그룹의 모태이다. 여러 클럽을 전전하며 탐 웨이츠(Tom Waits), 프린스(Prince) 같은 뮤지션들의 곡을 연주, 1994년 밴드 명을 디사운드 (D'Sound)로 개명. 밴드 이름에 대한 시모네의 설명은 다음과 같다. "지하실에서 연습을 하다가 슬슬 우리 그룹의 이름 을 정해야겠다는 생각이 들었어요. 아무래도 우리들의 사운드를 일관되게 나타내는 이름이 좋겠다고 의견일치를 봤습 니다. 'Sound'만 가지고는 어딘가 허전해서 'The Sound'로 정했는데 그것이 'Da Sound'가 되었다가 'D'Sound'가 된 것입니다." 첫 앨범의 프로듀서인 한스 올라브 그로토 하임에게 발탁되어 폴리도어(Polydor)에서 데뷔앨범 [Spice of Life] 발표. 1996년 첫 싱글 이 노르웨이 라디오 차트 정상을 차지. 특히 는 일본 인터내셔널 라디오 차트 1위에 오를 정도로 일본 내에서 매우 좋은 반응을 얻음. 1997년 1월 노르웨이의 그래미 상인 'Spellemannpriser' 시상식에서 두 개 부문 후보에 지명되었다. 1998년 두 번째 앨범 [Beauty is a Blessing] 발표. 싱글로 발표된 .... ....
