기타리스트 김홍탁이 김윤아, 크라잉 넛, 코코어, 이적, 시나위 등의 ‘젊은이’들부터 신중현 같은 거장까지 다 불러들여 자신의 독집 음반을 제작한다면? 그런 일이 미국 팝계에 실제로 있었다. 김홍탁의 경우엔 낮은 판매고를 걱정해야 할 판이지만, 미국에서는 그 프로젝트가 1400만장의 판매고라는 대성공을 가져다 주었다. 산타나(Santana)의 [Supernatural]이 바로 그 문제의 앨범이다. 와이클리프 진(Wyclef Jean), 데이브 매튜스(Dave Matthews), 롭 토마스(Rob Thomas), 로린 힐(Lauryn Hill), 에릭 클랩튼(Eric Clapton)까지 총출동한 산타나의 99년작은 빌보드 차트를 유린하고 그래미 9개 부문을 싹쓸이하는 일대 성공을 거두었다. 노장을 예우하기로 ...
