Yeonhee Byulgok is a crossover music project of Yuny Park that presents Korean traditional music, pop, and jazz combined. The sounds of different instruments, including tank drums (metal percussion with a tone) and tabla (Indian traditional percussion), are combined with the gayageum(twelve-string Korean zither) to express the beautiful scenery and expressions seen during the tour by leader Yuny Park. Founded in 2016, Yeonhee Byulgok released its first regular album, "Yeonhee Byulgok ? When I Was Young," in March 2018, and aims to add modern touches and flair to the lyrical color of traditional music.
Yuny Park is a gayageum artist who graduated from Seoul National University in South Korea. Park is an official holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Asset No. 23 for Gayageum sanjo(the improvisational solo genre of Korean folk instrumental music). She has performed collaborative works rooted in Korean traditional music with artists across genres from classical and pop to jazz and west African music. Currently, through the Yeonhee Byulgok Music Project, she is introducing the sound of traditional Gayageum to the public with her own color.
