이번 앨범 *[SWIMMING]*은 전라도에서 지낸 지난 10년 동안의 아름다움을 음악으로 기록하였다. 일상의 작은 순간들 속에서 마주한 자연, 기억, 위로의 풍경들을 25현가야금 소리로 담아보았다.
〈SWIMMING〉은 광주 무등산의 바람과 푸르름을 그리며 만든 곡으로, 그 싱그러움을 표현해 보고자 했으며 대만예술대학교 수윤한 교수님(비파)과 함께 작업하였다. 또한 〈산, 山〉과 〈수, 水〉도 수윤한(비파)과 함께 대만과 전라도 광주, 담양을 오가며 작업한 곡들이다. 전라도를 감싸는 산의 풍경과 대만의 산과 물을 함께 상상하며 만든 이 음악들은, 나에게 특별한 교류의 시간이기도 했다.
〈오늘기억〉은 광주의 역사와 그 흔적들을 음악으로 남기고 싶어 만든 곡이며, 오랫동안 마음에 간직해 온 손다혜 작곡가의 〈침묵의 소리(Sound of Silence)〉는 초연 이후 감정의 여러 결이 채워지지 못한 채 남아 있었지만, 이번 앨범을 통해 비로소 온전히 담아낼 수 있었다.
마지막으로 25현가야금을 처음 배울 때 박순아 선생님께 전수받은 〈도라지 - 북한 창작곡〉는, 제 음악 여정의 출발점 같은 곡이라 더욱 애착이 간다.
그동안 전라에서 마주한 아름다움을 나누고 싶었다.
익숙함 속에 숨겨진 조용하고도 단단한 아름다움을 발견하고,
그 조각들을 소리로 조심스레 엮어내고자 했다.

About the Album – [SWIMMING]
This album, SWIMMING, is a musical record of the beauty I have encountered during the past ten years in Jeolla Province. Through the sound of the 25-string gayageum, I sought to gently capture fragments of everyday life — moments of nature, memory, and comfort.
<SWIMMING> was inspired by the wind and the mountain’s verdant breath of Mt. Mudeung in Gwangju, Jeolla Province and Composed together with Professor Su YunHan (pipa) from the Taipei National University of the Arts. 〈Mountain, 山〉 and 〈Water, 水〉 were also composed with her, while moving between Taiwan, Jeolla Province of korea. Imagining the mountains and waters of both regions, these works became a special exchange for me.
<Memory of Today> was written to remember the history and traces of Gwangju in music. Son Dahye’s <Sound of Silence>, a piece I have cherished for a long time, remained unfinished in its emotions after the premiere, but through this album it has finally taken its complete form.
Finally, <Doraji (Folk Song Composition)> is a piece I first learned from teacher Park Sun-a when I began studying the 25-string gayageum. For me, it marks the beginning of my musical path.
Through this album, I wished to share the beauty I encountered in Jeolla.
I discovered a beauty hidden within the familiar and sought to weave its fragments into sound. ....
